NSW Single Use Plastics Ban
NSW is banning some single-use plastics from 1 November 2022
From 1 June 2022, the supply of lightweight plastic shopping bags with handles was banned.
From 1 November 2022, the supply of further single-use plastic items is banned including:
- Single-use plastic straws, stirrers and cutlery
- Single-use plastic plates and unlidded bowls
- Expanded polystyrene foodware
Plastic cotton buds and microbeads in rinse-off personal care products are also banned.
This ban does NOT apply to other bags, cups or containers, however these are being considered for future action.
